Ethnicity, SOC and International Tracking

Inquiry records can be assigned an Ethnicity according to the needs and custom of the institution. PORTAL ships with a default set of values that can be altered. Tracking one ethnicity may or may not be sufficient for a school. There is no support for assigning multiple ethnicities to a child except to designate them as multiracial. There is a performance report that tabulates by ethnicity. If the school needs to track multiple values, a second ethnicity field can be added.

SOC stands for “student of color.” This designation can be used as a school sees appropriate. Most schools use this for a student whose ethnicity is not Caucasian, but it can be used for an international student, an exchange student, or other special cases.

There is a checkbox to designate that a child is living outside the country of the school. Tracking this makes it easy to quickly pull up a list of international inquiries.
