Place Holders

In order for some of the reports to function correctly, there must be a record in the database for each type of child. Otherwise there will not be a row for that type of child in the report. These “dummy” records are called Place Holders. For example, since normally there are no Grade 13 students, a Place Holder record for Year 13, or PG, can be created to cause that row to appear in the report. In general, all values that appear in the row will be zero until a true student record exists. Place Holder records are created and set up from the Enrollment screen.

  1. Navigate to  INQUIRIES Enrollment.
  2. Create a new record by selecting Record > New Record from the FileMaker menu.
  3. Click into the Place Holder checkbox to mark the record as a Place Holder. Notice that the AdmStatus becomes PlaceHolder, and the student name is marked as PlaceHolder.
  4. Complete the information for which you are creating a Place Holder record, for example Current GD 13.
