Network and DNS Configuration

By default, BROADCASTER 3 is configured to use an inRESONANCE-hosted SMTP server that all of our clients are welcome to use. Although we provide this server as a courtesy to all of our clients, we usually recommend that BROADCASTER 3 be configured to use your organization’s own mail server.

The server address is smtpbc.inresonance.com and its public IP is 75.150.76.180. If you are opening specific ports, then the FileMaker server will need to communicate with the SMTP server using SSL over port 25 (if port 25 is unusable, port 465 will also work).

If you decide to use inRESONANCE’s SMTP server, you should create an SPF record to help prevent broadcasts from being falsely flagged as “Spam”. Microsoft makes an excellent tool to build SPF records at http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/default.aspx.

One possible SPF record is demonstrated below, but any changes to your DNS entries should be vetted by your IT staff or domain registrar. You may need to contact your domain registrar for assistance in creating an SPF record.

NOTE: Please make sure that you only have one SPF record in place. Multiple SPF records may automatically fail validation. If you have an existing SPF record, you should simply modify it to add “include:inresonance.com”.

  • Record type: TXT (and/or SPF)
  • Record value: v=spf1 a mx include:inresonance.com ~all
